The man behind the camera!

Chris "Spanky" Moore

For those that don't know me, my name is Chris Moore, also known as "Spanky"...If you must know my co-worker gave me this name. He seems to think that I look like what Spanky from the Little Rascals would look like all grown up. So that name has stuck since day one and now everyone calls me that at work and abroad.

Among other things I am the founder of the Sumter Digital Camera Club (SDCC website). I started this group along with several others after students in my basic digital camera class at Sumter's Central Carolina Technical College called me to start the club in 2005. The students wanted a club that was designed specifically for digital photographers in Sumter. And would be a group for photographers that were using the latest in equipment and software to take, edit and share their pictures. So now you know the rest of the story…

Obviously the camera club doesn't pay my bills…so here is a little about me otherwise.

I am a staff photographer for The Item (www.theitem.com) and have been a full time shooter there since November of 2001. Aside from working at The Item I also started my own photography business called Palmetto Photography (www.palmettophotography.com). I photograph a wide range of jobs with PP, from portraits, weddings and events to just about anything else you can take a picture of.

I am also married to my beautiful wife, Kyndal. We have a beautiful little girl named Kaytlin Denise "Kaydee" and in March 2007 we added 2 new additions to our family, twin boys, Caleb Michael Moore & William Chandler.

In the Spring of 2007 what started as a small studio for Palmetto Photography turned into a family gift shop, MOORE & More (M&M website). Stop by and check us out, we have accessories and gifts for all occasions as well as a in house custom frame shop.

So between working at The Item, Palmetto Photography, MOORE & More, the Sumter Digital Camera Club, and spending time with my family ... I don't have time for a whole lot of other things.

I also enjoy some of the following things:
- Surfing on the Internet
- Building websites
- Taking pictures
- Shooting guns!
- Looking at pictures
- Reading Grisham books, when I can find the time
- Working on heavy equipment... i.e. using Excavators to build ponds! Lots of fun...

Thanks for your interest in my work,

Chris "Spanky" Moore
